Red flags and rain drops were not enough to keep American Suzuki / Part Unlimited’s Jake Johnson from becoming the first rider to sweep the Daytona Double. Last year he posted a first and a second and backed that up this year with two convincing wins. It took three tries tonight to get the twenty five lap National underway and Johnson nailed the start each time.

Congratulations to podium winners at the AMA Grand National Championship.

The 2008 AMA Grand National Championship got underway Wednesday under the lights at Daytona’s Municipal Stadium. After whittling the 93 entries down to a sixteen rider field the first national of the year was underway. It took two tries, but American Suzuki / Parts Unlimited’s Jake Johnson put together two perfect starts and rode flawlessly to a 3 second win in the first round of the AMA Flat Track Championship (Singles). Finishing second was defending series Champion Kenny Coolbeth on his Bettencourt’s Honda backed Honda. Coolbeth edged Johnson’s Suzuki teammate JR Schnabel after a race long battle.

Wow! What a great way to start a race season. The Stotz Racing Honda Drag Race team built a new bike over the winter. Kent's personal turbo cbr1000rr daily driver ran some 8.30's playing around last year. They took that bike and redid the chassis, turbo system and motor.

Birch Creek AMA ATV Motocross Nationals

Team Epic continues to refine the team and the Can-Am DS 450s as they moved into Round 4 of the AMA/ATVA ATV Championship series at Birch Creek MX in Danville, VA. Overall finishes for the weekend were Lawson 5th, Gee 14th, and Baker 18th. Team Epic team manager Brian Winters said “We are very pleased with Lawson’s first top five finish for us.” “This is a brand new team and brand new bike. Look for Epic riders to be on the podium very soon.”

Team Epic Race report: Baker Sixth in Moto 2; Gee Fourth-Fastest Qualifying

With cold and wet weather, Team Epic made its way to Ballance MX Park in Bowling Green, KY for Round 3 of the AMA/ATVA ATV Championship series. After a challenge parking the haulers in the muddy conditions, Team Epic setup and prepared the Can-Am DS 450 machines for tech. The team has been working hard on the DS 450s and made a number of changes for Round 3.

The Pro-only event features the top quad racers in the country competing in North America's premier ATV racing series. In what was one of the muddiest, wildest, and most brutal supercross races ever, Team Bad Boy rider Jake Marsack # 66 showed the competition and the fans why he’s now considered "master of the mud." In a rain-shortened 12-lap main event at the Daytona International Speedway on March 7, 2008, Marsack had a brilliant ride for his first AMA Supercross class podium of his career, finishing an impressive third overall. Earlier this year in similar conditions at San Francisco’s AT&T Park, Marsack finished fourth overall.
